Hello everyone,

My name is Raviteja. I was infected with Hepatitis B two years ago after undergoing a liver transplant and have been on continuous medication since then. I am now planning to get married. My viral load is currently low, and I have read that the likelihood of sexual transmission is minimal in such cases.

I would appreciate guidance on whether it is necessary for my future spouse to be vaccinated against Hepatitis B.

Hi @raviteja,
Welcome to the community. I am glad to hear that things are going well with your treatment. While it is true that having a low viral load indicates you are less likely to infect someone, if your partner is not vaccinated already, I strongly recommend that they do so. That is the best way to protect themselves from any exposure. After they are vaccinated and have developed antibodies, it further reduces the chances of exposure almost to zero. They must get vaccinated if they have not already done so.

Good luck with the planning and everything. Best, Bansah1

Hi
My name is Halima
I have was diagnosed with hepatitis B in 2018, when I wanted to intern for a company . They did series of test and found out I had Hbv, I was shocked I still don’t know how I got it, because i am not sexually active with anyone. I was informed by my mom because she worked there, so she was told first before she informed me . She was very devastated and didn’t know what to do , my sibling and her went for the test and it came out negative. The took the vaccine.
I am very grateful to have found this platform. Because it is very difficult to talk to someone about it except by family members.

Hi @lsrdp , nice to meet you!!

I’m glad that your liver enzymes and bilirubin seem to be going down. It’s quite scary to see them so high. Do you happen to know if you have an acute infection, or is it chronic? If it’s acute, hopefully that means that getting to the other side of your flare means it’s resolving. If it’s chronic, I would discuss with your doctor about starting treatment.

Best
