Good evening everyone
I have a question about weight loss
Is weight loss a result of the virus in the system or the constant stress from fear, worry, depression, poor feeding that the virus can bring?
Is it normal to have slow digestion with hepatitis b +
Hi @ sam12
Weight loss may be caused by many etiologies. HBV may cause weight loss during acute hepatitis B due to anorexia , nausea, vomiting that the patient cannot eat adequate foods. In chronic hepatitis B , the virus may cause flare/hepatitis during acute exacerbation on top clinical symptoms and signs like acute hepatitis and finally it can developed cirrhosis and liver cancer that lead to weight loss . It can cause liver cancer due to its integrated HBV DNA . Most people living with HBV have no unintentional weight loss and if it occurs, it may be caused by other etiologies like peptic ulcers, stress or depression , diabetes or other cancer like colorectal cancer etc. I hope this can explain your question.
