Good news for people living with hepatitis B in Romania: a new CNAS reimbursement pathway for Vemlidy (TAF)!
As a Romanian patient living with chronic hepatitis B, I want to help spread this news.
CNAS Order 1293, dated 9 July 2026, introduced the LB01B eligibility form for tenofovir alafenamide (TAF/Vemlidy), establishing a formal pathway to reimbursed treatment for patients who meet the applicable criteria.
There is also encouraging research: a large observational study published in JHEP Reports associated TAF with a lower incidence of liver cancer compared with entecavir and TDF. This is promising, although it is not definitive proof of superiority.
I hope this news reaches as many Romanian patients as possible and that more eligible people receive support to access treatment.
