Tenofovir amibufenamide vs Vemlidy

Recently I came across people starting to take Tenofovir Amibufenamide 25mg. There is not much information available on the internet. How is it compared to Vemlidy? Any benefit to switch over from Vemlidy to this new drug? Thanks!

Dear @SeanL,

Both are very effective agents that control viral load. At the moment (at least in my country of Australia), Vemlidy/Tenofovir disoproxil is the first line treatment. If you are not having any issues with Vemlidy, there is no real reason to switch over.

Hope this helps,
Thomas

@ThomasTu @availlant I ordered for TDF and I was sent Tenofovir /Lamivudine 300/300mg. Should I take it or I should return it? What is the difference and what will happen if I take it? Thank you always for your support.

Hi @Smart55,

This is a combination that has been used for treating HIV. It will still be effective against HBV. The new WHO guidelines have suggested that taking this combination is acceptable if you cannot access TDF alone.

Hope this helps,
Thomas

@ThomasTu Thank you so much for your response. Indeed it helps. Kind regards.
