Hi all,
Last year i was tested with hepatitis b with a high viral load but interestingly the doctor did not prescribe any medication. Fast forward to now, i relocated to a new country for work and saw a doctor here who was surprised that i did not take any medication sooner.
I am now given a prescription for Tafnat 25 MG but patient experiences with this same brand is limited so i would love to hear from people who have taken this medicine. How has your body responded to it? How long have you been taking it? Any improvements in liver enzimes and viral supresion? Any side effects? I appreciate your response.
Would love to also hear from medical professionals about their thoughts on it. Thank you.
This article writes about positive results but i would love to hear from you all before i started buying and taking medicine.
Hi @Tse,
It looks like Tafnat 25mg has the same active ingredient as TAF 25mg. This could just be a generic of TAF. Anyway, I took TAF(Tenofovir Alafenamide) for some years before switching back to Entecavir. It was great, but I noticed a constant spike in my cholesterol since I started taking it. I had a normal cholesterol value before switching to TAF.
All of a sudden, I was faced with the decision to start statins to manage it because it just kept increasing. This was not something that I wanted to do at the time. So I had a conversation with my hepatologist, and we agreed to switch back to Entecavir with the caveat to go back if my liver test started showing any abnormalities. So far, so good. That was the only issue I had when I took TAF. It controlled my viral load and remained undetectable; my ALT and AST were mostly close to normal, but I observed a small spike from time to time. Nothing crazy. Keep an eye on your cholesterol levels, and you can switch to another antiviral if you do experience a sustained increase. I liked that one doesn’t have to wait 2 hours before or after eating to take it, like Entecavir. Adherence was easy, at least for me, because I don’t eat breakfast.
Thank you for your response. Such an important information about the cholesterol that i wouldn’t know if not for you. I will bring that up with my meeting with the doctor un my upcoming meeting. Thank you for sharing your experiences. Take care.
