My daughter, who also has Hep B, is hoping to study abroad next fall in Spain. She has been given health forms to fill out for health clearance for the program. She is to mark Yes or No for whether she has various health issues including “Hepatitis/Gallbladder Disease.” I think they also ask about whether she’s had a Hep B vaccination, which she has not. Does she need to disclose that she has Hep B? I don’t think she disclosed it to her university. If she does disclose it, is there any chance they would not accept her into the study abroad program in Spain? Thanks for your help!
Margaret
Hi Margarita,
This is what I have found regarding:
Authorisation for a stay for studies. Mobility within the European Union. (In this case, to Spain)
On the website of the Ministry of Health of the Government of Spain, you will find everything necessary regarding students who wish to pursue their studies in Spain.
You will be able to check that there is also the option to listen to the requirements in English.
I attach the link to the Ministry of Health.
A little more information:
Although this information refers to HIV, the protocol to follow for viral hepatitis is the same.
Although I don’t believe you will have any problems studying in Spain, I recommend that you state the infectious disease you have on the application form, simply in case there might be any issues at some point.
Sincerely,
Luis.
Thank you, Luis! I appreciate you passing on the information.
