Hepatitis B marker results

GREETINGS, FRIENDS. Could someone please look at my case and answer my questions? I went to donate blood once (May/24) but it wasn’t possible because a previous donation I’d made (February/24) had tested reactive for Anti-HBc. Afterwards, a new blood sample was taken for testing (the result was due in 45 days). As I didn’t want to wait for the result, I ended up getting some tests done a few days later at a private laboratory. The results were as follows: Anti-HBc IgG, Anti-HBc IgM, Anti-HBe, HBeAg, Anti-HBs and HBsAg. All of them came back negative. When the result from the other sample came back, this time it was inconclusive… In July of the same year, I did the Anti-HBc test again at another laboratory and it was negative. Could someone please analyse everything I’ve described? Thanks.

Hi @james_russell,
Welcome to the community. There is a possibility that the first test could be a false positive. This can happen. Given that 2 out of 3 tests from other labs were normal, this suggests that the first test was a false positive. Please, I recommend that you see a doctor to address any further issues regarding your tests. Best, Bnasah1

Thank you very much for your attention @Bansah1. :brazil::handshake:

Yes, I agree that this is more likely to be a false positive reading. But it might be appropriate to get vaccinated so you have some peace of mind for next time a potential exposure occurs.

I am immensely grateful for your attention, Dr. Thomas. After that incident, I looked for a vaccination centre here in my city and have already had all three doses of the vaccine. GREETINGS FROM BRAZIL!
