Need an advice for my case

Hello everyone

I’m kindly seeking advice and guidance. Since being diagnosed with hepatitis B, I was advised to do regular exercise, so I started football training for about one hour every Saturday.

On January 3rd, during practice, I had a hard tackle with an opponent and later began feeling pain under my arm. To manage the pain, I took ibuprofen and diclofenac. However, the pain has not fully resolved since then.

What is worrying me now is that for the past two days, I’ve noticed my stool has been very black. This is unusual for me and has made me anxious.

Could this be related to the ibuprofen or diclofenac, the injury, or my hepatitis B condition? What steps should I take next?
Thank you all for your support.

Hi @Abraham_A_Swaray,
Sorry to hear about dealing with pain from a football injury. I will recommend that you see a doctor or visit the hospital and get cleared. I don’t believe this is because of HBV or pain medicine. You may have injured yourself more than you realised. The pain could be a cracked rib or damage to an internal organ from those ribs. Such injuries are easy and common to happen from hard tackles.

To be on the safer side, go to a hospital, see a doctor, and let them check the site with imaging to rule out any internal injuries. I suspect that is the case, but seek medical care to be on the safer side. It is too soon for those painkillers to cause damage, but you never know. Get checked by a doctor.

Let us know how things progress. Best, Bansah1.

Hi @Abraham_A_Swaray

When you say black - you mean jet black? This normally suggests upper GIT bleed which may be related to either ibuprofen/diclofenac as these are non steroidal anti-inflammatory medications that can irritate the stomach and in severe cases cause bleeding. Ensure you are taking with food to reduce this issue. Otherwise consider paracetamol which doesn’t affect the GIT. It would not be related to hepatitis. At any rate please see your doctor to investigate further. All the best.
