Lived experience of US funding cuts - please share your story!

Hi all,

We are a team of clinicians and researchers based at the Francis Crick Institute in London, and working with international partners and collaborators to advance progress towards hepatitis B elimination.

We are gathering experiences and insights into the impact of the federal funding changes on hepatitis B programmes worldwide as a result of the new US government since January 2025.

We are asking for feedback from anyone who has lived experience, or is working in the hepatitis B field, in any role including clinical, research/academia, public health, policy, teaching, industry or civil society. Please take a few minutes to populate this form (a few tick box questions and then an opportunity to send free text).

We will be hosting a hybrid meeting of a multidisciplinary network (‘HBV-CARE’) in June at the Crick to discuss the feedback, with the aim of generating a report and considering action steps for the international community working in this field.

You are also welcome to provide feedback anonymously or by email if you prefer - marion.delphin@crick.ac.uk

Many many thanks, and sending resilience to all,
Marion

Thanks for sharing, @mariondelphin!

This is important work for advocating for reversing these cuts and making sure that the impacts of Hep B are recognized. I encourage anyone who has been affected to provide their input!

Let’s not be medically biased. I learned that China has developed functional cure for Hep B. Have we investigated the efficacy of their invention of the functional cure?

Hi @pat,

We have mentioned on the forum the Chinese approach to functional cure: Ausperbio announces AHB-137 Monotherapy achieves 30% functional cure in HBe-negative CHB patients on stable NA therapy - #5 by Nawab .

Results from trials are ongoing, but it looks similar to the GSK approach.
