Hi,
lenacapavir , anyone heard of this ? 2 times a year injection, this is for aids, it seems they invest more in hiv research treatment than hepb research treatment ?
There is nothing similar for hepb treatment.
Br,

Br,
fyi,
so they are taking about the hiv capsid, in green in the utube, I mean can this hiv capsid be used to transfer crisp proteine to the nucleas to destroy the hepb dna ? is an idea ?
Hi all,
Lenacaprivir is a wonderful drug that targets the HIV capsid. It can be delivered in formulations requiring only 2 injections per year, and data reported at the recent International Conference on Antiviral Research in Las Vegas indicates they are hopeful of generating formulations requiring only 1x injection per year. If they are successful with that goal, they will have developed a drug treatment that can functionally substitute for HIV vaccination with annual boosters! That is really exciting.
Lenacaprivir does not work against HBV because the HIV and HBV capsids are very, very different. However, the HBV Capsid Assembly Modifiers (CAMs) use an analogous mechanism against HBV. The most potent CAM I’ve heard of is ALG184, with pM (picomolar) efficacy against HBV. It is in phase II trials, and if successful in the trials, it might be able to be formulated into an long-acting drug. For full efficacy, perhaps forming a backbone of cure therapy, it is very likely that it would need to be combined with other long-acting drugs. We don’t have those yet, but a lot of hard work is going on to reach that goal.
John.
Dear @john.tavis is there any updates about ThervacB. It was said that results of ThervacB trial phase 1 would be made public by the end of 2024. Moreover, it was said that phase 1b/2a would begin in Jan 2025. However, there is no update about this as well.
They ran into some more procedural delays (I can’t remember the details), and I don’t know when the early results will be made public.
Sorry.
John.
Perhaps @Greg could provide some insight (or knows someone who can)?
I am not directly involved, but can tell that phase 1 is nearly finalised and early results will be made public then. As John pointed out, phase 1b/2a faced some administrative delays but will be initiated soon.
Best, Greg
