INTRODUCTION THREAD: People affected by Hep B

Hello everyone,

I’m 43 years old, and I’d like to start by saying hello to everyone and thank you for welcoming me into this community.

I’ve been reading many of the comments here, and I’m genuinely happy to have finally found a community like this. I’ve been looking for a place where I can connect with people who understand what it is like to live with Hepatitis B.

I was diagnosed with inactive Hepatitis B in 2013, shortly before I was supposed to get married. At the time, I went through two difficult things at once. First, I was shocked and frightened to discover that I had the virus. Second, my marriage plans were completely cancelled because of it.

With time, I came to realize that Hepatitis B had also changed the direction of my life in ways I never expected.

Later, I wanted to start a food-related business because cooking is something I genuinely enjoy. Unfortunately, my permits were refused because I have Hepatitis B.

After that, I had to move to another job, this time in the medical warehouse field, and I faced the same problem again.

So today, I feel somewhat stuck in my current job. I cannot pursue the professional field I would like to work in, nor can I fully pursue my passion for cooking, because of my diagnosis.

If these restrictions are truly necessary for public safety, I can understand and respect that. I’m sharing my experience simply because I would like to connect with people who may have gone through similar experiences. I don’t want to feel like I’m dealing with all of this alone.

I also have another question.

For many years, I travelled frequently and was occasionally around alcohol. However, about five years ago I gradually started moving away from it and going back to things like tea and coffee instead.

I also experience periods of fatigue on some days of the week, especially in the mornings. Sometimes I find it extremely difficult to wake up, and occasionally I can sleep almost the entire day.

On the other hand, there are times when I feel unusually energetic late at night and then have difficulty falling asleep.

My questions are:

  1. Do other people with inactive Hepatitis B experience similar fatigue or changes in sleep patterns?

  2. Could these symptoms be related to Hepatitis B, or should I be looking for other possible causes?

Thank you for reading my story.

I’m really glad to be part of this community, and I hope to learn from your experiences and hopefully share some of mine as well.

Thank you, everyone.
