Index level hbsag

Hello everyone,
In a detection test HBV surface Ag (HBsAg) serum in which it is measured by an index level gives a figure (52 in my case). What does this number mean?

Greetings to all.

Dear @Luis,

My understanding is that qualitative HBsAg tests can measure in index levels, which is a number that is related to how strong the signal is from the assay (but can’t be accurately related to the amount of HBsAg that is there). The test is deemed positive or negative depending on what the result is compared to the cut-off value (which is different for each test): above the cut-off value means positive and below the cut-off value means negative.
