Dear @Suresh786,
If HDV remains well controlled 3 years after stopping pegIFN it will normally remain that way. Unfortunately this is not a common outcome from pegIFN therapy. However, your liver inflammation (ALT) should be monitored.

if I do the test for anti bodies for HDV, will the quantity of anti bodies help to determine how well my body is prepared for HDV relapse in future
Hi @Suresh786,
With our current knowledge, there is no general link between HDV antibody level and protection against relapse of HDV.

Hi @ThomasTu
I recently received my blood test result showing that my HBsAg is reactive. I am very worried about what this means for my health and for my New Zealand work visa application.
Could you please explain:
What this result means for my liver health?
Whether my condition could affect my visa application?
If I need any further tests (like liver function test or ultrasound) to provide for the visa medical requirements?
Thank you very much for your guidance.
Hi @Ajmal_Afshari,
HBsAg positivity means that you are infected with Hepatitis B. If unmanaged it can cause liver damage. The amount of liver damage you have at the moment can be measured using other lab tests (including fibroscan, liver function tests, and platelet count)
and 3) I am not a migration expert for NZ. @Lynnaire: would you be able to answer this question?
Thomas
during pegIFN my HDV came undetectable and after 2.5 years it had came <92 iu/ml and <2.0 log iu/ml
My ALT has improved a lot since pegINF stopped, last test was done in July and came as only 19 U/L.
Dear @Suresh786,
Your ALT is normal which is great. Your HDV RNA is also low for a long time after stopping pegIFN which is also great. While it is likely that you have established immune control of your HDV, it is still present at low levels in your liver. You should still see your hepatologist every 6 months to 1 year to monitor your HDV RNA levels.
monitoring ALT is enough or do i need to test HDV every 6 months? can i test ALT every six months but HDV RNA 12-24 months?
Hi @Suresh786,
This question can vary depending on an individual’s health history, access to and ability to pay for tests, as well as worry about risks. It is a personal decision that is best discussed with your health professional who is experienced in HDV management.
