In my early pregnancy my hbv viral load was 43 to today I call my mid wife to know about the test they did in my late pregnancy which was 154 but my baby only received the hepatitis b vaccine at birth
Hi Bah_kajatu
As you concern about your baby. According to WHO guidelines for PMTCT of HBV 2024 , if HBV DNA test is available, TDF prophylaxis to prevent mother to child transmission among pregnant women with HBV DNA> 200,000 IU/ml and start at 28wk of gestational age. Your baby only receives HBV vaccine birth dose within 24hrs due to your HBV DNA is quite low =154 (<200,000) and should be followed by 2 or 3 doses of HBV vaccine to complete series for ensure adequately protective immunity of the baby as per standard of care to completely prevention of HBV transmission from mother to baby after birth. In settings that HBIG is available, we can give HBIG within 12 hours after birth simultaneously with vaccine but another opposite site. I hope this may help you .
