Hbsag quantitative

Dear all,

I’ve shared here some of my lab results before.

Today I’ve received my AgHbs quantitative, 641 UI/ml.

I started with 7069 UI/ml 10 months ago, the time I first discovered I’m hep b carrier.

After 7 months it decreased to 725. My HbeAg is negative now with Anti Hbe positive. My DNA is undetectable from the first 4 months under entecavir.

I kindly ask why is the decrease of AgHbs became slow, while it started high ( 7069 to 725 in 7 months). Is it the normal typical way?

Your comments would be valuable as I feel a bit deceived with the last result (641ul/ml)

Dr @ThomasTu and all specialists here , your help is always highly appreciated.

Hi @Its_Me,

It is natural that HBsAg levels fluctuate a bit. The research community are still unsure what the underlying mechanisms may be (and indeed it may be different things causing it in different people), so it is not possible to answer your question definitively.

Sorry that this may not be a satisfactory answer.

Thomas

Wow, that’s incredible that you decreased from 7069 to 641. Were you on any sort of treatment such as interferon, or other experimental drugs that are meant to help decrease surface antigen? I mean honestly, anything under 1000 is fairly low. I’m currently in a clinical trial for hepatitis B, and I’ve been told that the rate of decrease slows as we get closer to undetectable – sort of like exponential decay.

Hello

I’ve been on entecavir for a year now. Never missed a pill daily.

Thank you for your nice comment.
