Hi all,
I would like to share the update about my hep b from previous post. Here is my new results and the doctor message. I feel very lucky and blessed. Good luck to anyone living with the disease. Stay hopeful and positive.
My other questions to all the experts:
Based on my case which I recently achieved a functional cure I think. Is it a functional cure or a complete cure?
-Should I continue to avoid alcohol like I have always been or can I have a little bit, like a small sip on the holidays throughout the year?
-What I need to tell my doctor at the upcoming check up?
Thank you,
This is considered immune clearance or a functional cure.
Regarding alcohol, it is unclear without fibroscan results what your liver health is like at the moment. As mentioned prior, alcohol will adds to any liver injury that your past HBV infection has inflicted.
It is worthwhile to provide your doctor with these results at your upcoming check up, so they understand your current health status.
Please keep staying safe and healthy. I Tap into your healing and results. I also ask the universe and God to heal and set me free too! Amen! I believe it.
So excited for you! And thank you for sharing such positive news with us this New Year.
Are you on antiviral to maintain the undetectable viral load? Is your HBsAG results negative/ unreactive? You can be both HBsAG and HBsAB positive which gets complicated. You should confirm your HBsAG is negative/unreactive.
-To summarize, I was diagnosed with CHB back in summer of 2007 and was put on treatment between 2011-2014. Stopped after 2014 due to insurance and doctor change.
-After 2014, I was monitor every 6 months but otherwise, was not on any antiviral treatment. and I achieved functional cure in 2025.
My lifestyle was very average, no smoke, no alcohol, eat lots of fruits and veggies when I can, light exercise, swimming, light but deep sleep ( average about 6 hours/night), reduced fast food, eat lots of home cooked meals, avoid food cooked with alcohol in them, reduced processed foods. Hope this help.
Hi @TomPsu, @Jason2024’s results show HBsAg is negative (non-reactive), and HBsAb is positive, which is what you would want. Take a look at the document on surface antigen to the inside between July-December. He does not need to continue taking antivirals, at least not now. I hope you get checked once a year or so. Best, Bansah1
