Hi All
Once we are in acute hep b infection then how we can go ahead with family planning if spouce is hep b negative. Whether we can go normal relation or need something different process so that future baby does not pass virus.
Thank you and looking forward please
Hi @Salish99,
If the spouse is negative, they need to get vaccinated if that has not happened already. If the positive person is the mother, they must discuss this with their doctor to investigate her case and develop a care plan. Antivirals can be used during pregnancy to help reduce transmission to the child. Immunoglobulin and HBV vaccine will be on hand when she delivers and will be administered to the baby within 24 hours of delivery. This can only happen when the woman is tested or the doctor is aware of her status. It is a process, and good communication is vital. I hope this helps. Bansah1
Hi Dr Bansah1
Thank you and am hoping my wife is negative as we havent indulge in sexual activities after my possible exposure on 19th Jan and secretly avoiding her to be close. But soon i am going to share and get her vaccinated.
I am bit worried about my little 18 month old daughter who i sleep hug and sometime she scratch my face but she had 3 dose of hep b vaccine hope vaccine helping her. I have checked
All stis on my 78 days of exposure and all came negative including hiv. Only i havent cheked are herpes and hpv.
I am still worried what is causing my stomach borborygmi and dull pain in my upper right back though my hbasg is already negative in 71 days of exposure.
Thank you and looking forward you response please
I hear you. There’s nothing to worry about, as long as they are both vaccinated. Your child and spouse will be alright because they are vaccinated. With your symptoms I doubt it’s due to the hepatitis B, but with that said I will suggest you talk to your doctor about it so he or she can investigate this further. I hope you feel better soon. Thanks, Bansah1.
Hi Dr Bansah
Thank you and am going to see her soon. I just feel like it must be reactivated since my last test hbsab was <10 and since hbsag was negative where Dr Thomas clarified that since virus clear from body there wont be synptoms.
Hoping against hope.
Thann you always
Hi @Salish99,
You are welcome. By the way, I am not a doctor but a fellow patient with some years of experience. I am glad that you will be seeing your doctor again soon. Follow-ups are vital for HBV patients. I hope all goes well. Best, Bansah1
Hi @Salish99,
There has been no recorded case of someone who is HBsAg-negative transmitting HBV through sexual transmission. If your HBV DNA levels are undetectable, then there is negligible risk of any transmission.
Hope this helps,
Thomas
Hi Dr Thomas
Thank you for your information.
Appreciated
