Courious about time frame testing

Hello scientist,

simple question
How long after exposure to Hepatitis B can HBsAg be detected in an infected patient’s blood?
thank you

Hi @Ngurah_Yuda,
It takes up to 9 weeks for the hepatitis B virus to show in the bloodstream. Therefore, it is important to get tested for the hepatitis B 3 panel blood test (HBsAg, HBcAb, HBsAb) at least 9 weeks after the exposure to determine if you have been infected. If you remain uninfected after that time period and are HBsAb negative, the completion of the hepatitis B vaccine series is strongly recommended. More can be found on this here: Exposed to Hep B? I hope this helps answer your question. Bansah1
