Could Hep B have a link to high cholesterol?

Hi guys, I hope everyone is doing well. I recently did my annual medical at work I received the results today, everything was relatively good expect my cholesterol LLD which was 212(High). Everytime, I do a medical now something strange or unexpected happens this is really taking a toll on me. I would like to know if this High cholesterol has anything to do with my Hep B infection. And is there anything I can do outside of getting on medication to bring it within normal levels.

Hello @Acool

I’m not a medical expert but your story sounds familiar to mine and probably lots of other people. As we grow older and doctors become wiser they seem to find more ailments.
I know that’s been my case starting with high cholesterol. Forgive me if you are young.

There is plenty you can do to lower your cholesterol. You should ask your doctor first.
Changing your Diet to low fat. Exercise and stress play a big role in high cholesterol, the bad cholesterol not the good one.

Funny ithat you ask if there is a connection with Hep B and high cholesterol. I think there is because it was the first, after HepB, chronic illness I got, and no matter what I do I can’t get it down. They say it runs in families. My mum had it but then her cholesterol went down.
I don’t have any proof of this and going by what I’ve mentioned isn’t really much.
I’ve been on Statins for decades. Tried to stop a few times because I thought things had improved, stress levels etc. unfortunately it was still high.
I guess I should be grateful for meditation. Which I am.
Lots of info out there. Check it’s from a reputable site and not suggestions.

Others may come along soon who may be more helpful.

Thanks Caraline, the doctor suggested statins and change of diet but I don’t want to be put on medication just yet. I’m 29 at the moment turning 30 in June crazy how my health is just running away from me. I have been eating mostly fruits and vegetable since my diagnoses last August. Planning on starting the gym soon.

Hi @Acool,
It sounds like there is some connection when the person has fatty liver, at least from reading a little on this topic. This affects the metabolism of cholesterol. Having other liver conditions, plus HBV, can lead to cholesterol metabolism issues. Exercising, limiting the amount of fried/greasy foods, and red meats, etc., can be helpful things one can do. You would need some protein. Otherwise you’ll get low iron. My sister and family are vegetarian and they have low iron. Red meat isn’t good but others are good. Chicken, fish ect
Just a thought
