Chronic Hepatitis B Infection: Patient Guidance (Chinese & English)

Dear HepB community,

Some of our researcher colleagues have just published this great paper that they would like to share. It’s not your typical research report- instead it’s a patient guidance document. That’s a summary designed for patients, of the most up-to-date and important knowledge in the field of hep B treatment and research. It was written in partnership with clinicians, scientists, patients, and patient representatives. Also available in the original traditional Chinese version.
Happy reading!

Dear Thomas and Joanna,

Thank you for sharing the paper. This guidance document is intended for all people at risk of or living with chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection. Chronic hepatitis B (CHB) is a lifelong infection and can lead to potentially serious consequences. It is helpful to develop a thorough understanding of the condition to develop the appropriate attitude and partner with healthcare professionals in tackling this condition. This guidance document will assist individuals in reaching these goals. It has been developed by clinicians, scientists, patients, and patient representatives and is based on current scientific recommendations. It is not intended to replace the advice and arrangements made by one’s medical team but to empower individuals to make informed decisions. Importantly, every person has a different risk profile regarding the risk of HBV infection and the risk of liver complications from CHB. One should always consult the physician for personalized advice under the framework of standard recommendations.

The salient points of the paper is summarized in the above figure. Hope it is helpful.
