As 2024 comes to an end, we need to stay united and fight together

Hello Everyone,
For some people it is already a new year for you and for others we are waiting. We can say we have made some progress in the hepatitis B world with advocates, scientists, providers, patients and other stakeholders sounding the alarm around this virus. I understand some people might be disappointed that there is still no cure. Things have not moved as fast as we all want it to. But, we need to hold on tight and not give up. I just want to say Happy New Year to everyone. It is my hope that 2025 brings us better news and gets us even closer to finding a cure or better treatment options for HBV patients. Let’s all remain hopeful and optimistic. Best, Bansah1

Thank you for this holiday message to everyone, @Bansah1. What a beautiful sentiment. I am amazed every day that I read these messages from the forum with not only people being brave enough to share their stories here, but also the consistently positive support from the community to these vulnerable and often anxious new-comers.

I hope we can continue to show kindness and passion to this community.

Love to you all,
Thomas

Happy New Year everyone! I thank God for this forum and for everyone’s lives. I hope you are well and taking care of yourself. Your words are very well received in my heart, @Bansah1 .

As a layman, I would like to know if this past year there has been any type of scientific advance in the search for a cure… or any discovery that could help with this. or even some medication changing phase…

Even if none of this has happened, I hope we can continue with hope. big hug

Hi @La.sciamachie,
Thanks for your kind response. Some drugs are in phase 3 clinical trials, but we don’t know how well they will fare compared to what we currently have. It sounds like some of these new drugs can lead to some form of functional cure, but reactivation is a huge concern. We should have more information later this year or next year about these new drugs. If they can’t lead to a functional cure, I hope they will be less expensive so those who need them can afford them. Best, Bansah1

Hi @La.sciamachie,

Thanks for your positive vibes and the kind words about this forum.

We generally have overviews of developing antiviral agents during the year as part of major conferences. We’ll try to link to them as they come up.

Cheers,
Thomas
