Hi @StarR,
Sorry to hear about your baby. Given the situation as you’ve described it and how you have mentioned that your child has already been vaccinated, the risk of transmission in this particular case is negligible.

Thank you very much for your reply, Thomas.
My aunt, who has hepatitis, not sure A B C or D, has invited us to go stay at her place for her birthday in July. She says, she will make sure the linens and towels are all washed before we get there. Our baby will go with us, if we decide to go. Should I be checking to see if there is any old blood spots left on towels or linens? My aunt has urticaria now and then, it’s a skin condition that results in hives and itchiness, sometimes extreme itchiness.
From your replies, I get the feeling that so long the textile is washed, it’s safe to use. Stains after wash, are a result of iron complexes, and doesn’t have anything to with the virus?
Thank you again, Thomas.
Hi @StarR,
Casual interactions as you’ve mentioned pose negligible transmission risk even if your aunt has hepatitis B. Moreover, if you and your baby are vaccinated and have appropriate levels of antibody, there is essentially no risk of transmission. As an example, we have on the forum HBV-negative partners of people with hepatitis B having children together with no transmission (to either their partner or the children).
