I am looking for recommendations for a hepatologist or liver specialist who offers strictly online consultations (telemedicine / remote second opinions) in English.
Specifically, I am trying to connect with an expert who has active clinical trial experience or deep familiarity with the latest emerging functional cures—especially GSK’s antisense oligonucleotide therapy (bepirovirsen) and other genetic or siRNA pipelines.
Because general telemedicine apps usually only cover primary care, I need to find a specialist through a platform or a research hospital’s international department that handles advanced, remote sub-specialty care.
Has anyone here successfully done a remote video consultation with a top HBV trial investigator in Europe or globally?
If so, which platform did you use (e.g., Top Doctors, specific hospital international portals), or do you have a specific doctor you would recommend reaching out to?
Any guidance, names, or links to help me set up a virtual consultation would be incredibly appreciated.
I think I recall from one of your previous posts that you’re from Romania, and I’ll be honest, I don’t know how the healthcare system works there. I agree with you that I haven’t had luck finding hepatologists through general telemedicine platforms. My doctor who I see in the US works for a major hospital system, and there is an option to have video visits instead of in-person, so I’d say that’s your best bet. I do have a list of names of the investigators from the B-Well phase 3 trial. I’m attaching some names from generally English-speaking countries. I will caveat this by saying that if you are able to speak to a specialist outside of Romania, you very well might be on the hook for the entire cost of the visit. As a disclaimer, I’m not officially recommending any of these providers. The only claim that I am making about them is that they have experience treating patients with bepirovirsen.
You recall correctly! I am indeed based in Romania. In fact, I actually know a few of the local doctors here and have worked directly with some of them in the past.
Because of that, what I’m really looking for right now is a second opinion from an international perspective. I’m particularly interested in hearing what other hands-on investigators think about the bigger picture, especially regarding things like gene therapies and where these treatments are heading next.
