Hi, I’m currently 20 weeks pregnant and recently started taking TDF due to a high viral load. Since starting the medication a few days ago, I’ve been experiencing severe acid reflux and constipation. I hadn’t had either of these symptoms so far in my pregnancy, and they’re now really affecting my food intake and overall well-being.
I’d really appreciate any home remedies that have worked for others — ideally safe and pregnancy-friendly options. Thank you in advance!

Hi @Kisscurl,
Welcome to the forum and thanks for sharing your story. I’m sorry to hear about your issues. I’m not sure about about this personally, but we do definitely have a few mothers on this forum. Any thoughts @georget @Suwang88 @Caraline @lien.tran @Nafisa.Yussf @kimbopumpkin or any other mothers?

Thank you, Dosara! I’ll definitely discuss this with my hepatologist. It’s truly comforting to have found this community where you feel safe and understood.

Perhaps you may request your Hepatologist to change your prescription from TDF to TAF. TDF has many side effect. The two common side effect are osteoporosis and kidney . Since you are pregnant must watch on any drug you take .
I’ve already discussed with my hepatologist about TAF. They mentioned that there isn’t as much extensive research available on the safety and efficacy of TAF during pregnancy compared to TDF. That said, I’m planning to follow up with them again to explore the possibility of switching to TAF. It’d be helpful to know if you or anyone else from the community can shed some light on this. I too have been reluctant to start TDF because of the potential side effects so I’d really appreciate any advice to figure out the best way forward.

Thanks Thomas. Can’t help with this one. I wasn’t one treatment when pregnant.
