I shared a cup of icecream with someone, we both used different spoons… I was diagnosed with HPylori bacteria, is there any way the other person could have contracted the bacteria
Hi @sam12,
Sorry, I don’t know much about H pylori bacteria to provide any concrete advice here. From the little research I did, it sounds like it can be directly transmitted through saliva, vomit, etc. It seems we all have it, but it is dormant and does not make us sick.
Please let the other person know so they can get tested and treated if they have any symptoms. I hope you feel better soon. Bansah1.
Hi @sam12,
Interesting question, and one that is sort of out of the expertise of this forum. However, just looking at some online resources from trustworthy sites (Helicobacter pylori | healthdirect), it looks like H. pylori is extremely common (~50% of the world’s population is infected). Most infections do not cause any symptoms or untoward effects.
Even if this was an effective transmission event (which I’m not convinced it is, given your description), I don’t think it is worth worrying about. They may event have it already, or might be exposed through some other source.
Hope this helps,
Thomas
