Thank you @ThomasTu for replying and flagging this to the Frenchies!
I am Marion, a French researcher based in London, and I have been working on HBV for almost 8 years now - lovely to meet you!
Thomas has already answered many aspects, but allow me to add:
As Thomas said, HBs is unfortunately not the target of current treatment, so the chances of this protein’s presence decreasing with current treatments are unfortunately very low. However, many curative treatments require the virus to be controlled (as in your case with an undetectable viral load) before entering a clinical trial - so you are already on the right track!
Yes, currently tested treatments focus on people with low HBs levels, but this really doesn’t represent the entire population living with HBV!! So, research must and will continue!
I am not a clinician, so I have no opinion/expertise regarding fibromyalgia; I will only say that I have never heard of this association before your message. Scientific literature is unfortunately sometimes confusing and full of false or weak associations that can sometimes be frightening. Posting a message on this forum is a very good idea, and I hope other clinicians can provide you with more information on this association.
Thank you Thomas just wanna let you know this platform gave me hope an so much support when I myself didn’t know where to turn. I’m so proud to know Thomas tu an others I met down this path. who showed so much support an ideals to help other coupe an figure out there conditions.

Greetings everyone. My name is Derick from Cameroon. Indeed i feel relief hearing testimony of people actuality get cured of the HBV virus. I am extremely happy for everyone who has been cured of HBV. I was diagnose with the virus 5yrs ago and has not been on any medication since then. Unfortunately my financial situation can’t permit me buy the drugs. On my own, I’m struggling to live a healthy lifestyle of no alcohol, red meat or fatty things as recommended by my dictor but yet i am still having some symptoms like extreme fatigue, loss of stamina and also loss of weight. Please i need help to get the medication
The first thing to do is get a hep b check to know what stage of hep b you have. That will give your doctor an ideal what the next steps would be depending on your results. You may not need meds but it seems it’s been a while since last checked. I also recommend that you get a full liver panel to make sure your liver is doing ok. When you do all these things you should have an answer from your care physician. Then you weed out the problems that may not have anything to do with hep b.
Thank you so much Mme Caraline. I will so much appreciate if you can do that for me. I am presently in Douala Cameroon . My contact: +237679585348. My email address: ambederick2022@gmail.com
The doctor actually requested that I need to do a further test to know which level the virus is in my blood but the test was very expensive for me. He said it’s 180 000frs approximately $300. That he was going to collect my blood sample and send to France where the testing will be carryout before I come for the result after a week. That my cohntry Cameroon doesn’t have the necessary machines or equipments to do the test. He said only after the test that he will tell me if I need to be taking drugs or not and advised me on what I shouldn’t be eating in order not to aggravate the situation and also that I should be doing regular exercise. But unfortunately i i didn’t have the money for it but rather try to avoid everything he asked me to hoping that i would be fine. But presently the symptoms are there which is getting me so worried. I feel nauseated, loss of weight and extreme fatigue at all time. I think its a call for concern
Dear Derick,
I am sorry to hear that you are not feeling well.
Hepatitis B is most often asymptomatic. It if often detected on routine testing. There is a cascade for assessement of your liver condition which will then help decide whether treatment is needed or not.
Unfortunately, as you have clearly outlined, some of the tests are just not available or too expensive. (such as the viral load).
There are alternate ways to make decisions including checking your ALT and platelets as well as ultrasound. If there are no changes on these test results, it would be reasonable to wait and continue to monitor.
Where access to testing is challenging, treatment without all of the tests can be considered. (WHO guidelines also recommend this).
Thank you for sharing your story and sorry to hear about your situation. Maybe SOS hepatitis Cameroon may be able to support you: https://www.soshepatitescameroun.org/
I agree with @aliceulee that you should consider discussing with your doctor about treatment according to the WHO guidelines (which suggest considering treatment if these tests are not accessible).
Thanks Sir. I just searched about them now and noticed they have office here in douala my city. I will go there. I feel like I’m developing hbp due to the hbv issue. I"m always worried in my heart and living in fear
